Being Unemployed

I am now six days into being unemployed for the first time in 20 years. Amazing! Last time I was unemployed I was being a mother to my two fabulous children and they were so young they hadn't learnt how to argue with me, still did as they were told and were in bed by 6.30pm. How times have changed!!

Being unemployed feels a little odd, but my friends tell me it doesn't really count because I actually have a job, I'm just not working. Not having to get up and be on board for Morning Briefings is a bonus. Being able to decide what time I get up is like being on holidays only everyone else is working, which I think is what makes it so strange.

So far I have been able to have trip to Sydney, go to the gym for morning, but not early moring sessions with my Personal Trainer, have breakfast with a friend, spend a whole day in Brisbane shopping, doing lunch and having dinner and I've had a massage. If I'd known unemployment was this much fun I might have tried it earlier.

I have no intention of boring you all with a day by day description of my life before I leave. I acutally don't have the time. It's 14 days until I leave Australia to start Lynn's Whole New Life Adventure for real. I will use te journals so many of you thought would be useful to record my thoughts and feelings. Just remember when I come back and make you read them and look at the pictures that you bought them.

To Year 9/2008 I will get to that book! I have been inspired by Michael Gerard Bauer, author of Don't Call Me Ishmael, so perhaps the 21st century version of St Trinians could blossom from my 61/2 wonderful years at St Hilda's. Fear not, names will be changed to protect the guilty.

One last thing I have to acknowledge the talented Year 9 Debaters who assisted me creating my blog.

So, off to read, sleep, watch telly, shop, sew, play with my puppies or maybe, just maybe, do some packing.
